What customers say?

“ Outstanding! Let us check in a bit early as I was attending a funeral. Had evening meal which was absolutely spot on with decent portion sizes. The bar lady really looked after us. Room was beautiful. Breakfast was everything and more. If I could give 10 stars I would! Owners were perfect hosts and looked after us. Can’t recommend enough. A gem of a place ”

“ We booked for a Sunday lunch, seeing it was dog friendly and we would be out walking the dog. Lady that runs it seems nice, friendly and welcoming, the place seems to have a better atmosphere than the last time we were in, when it was under different management. The lunches we ordered were the Pork Loin and the Trio of Meats, both were very nice, we will return to try the Parmo soon! ”

“ Popped in for evening meal, three of us. One of us had steak and ale pie, another had fish and chips, and I had sirloin steak. All three dishes were excellent, very well cooked and presented, as was the service. Husband was delighted with the option of a mini dessert and coffee as was sister in law with sticky toffee pudding. I’m diabetic so just had a latte what a comfortable enjoyable evening, we will come again! ”

“ We went for the Christmas Fare menu, the food was lovely and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately we couldn’t have coffee after the meal as it was past 8pm. Also a member of staff who had been hoovering the main part of the bar at around 8:30pm asked if they could hoover the restaurant area where we were sat. We informed them that we wouldn’t be much longer. We were the only two people left in the restaurant. We left at 9pm and the door was firmly shut behind us. We expected the Parkwood to be really busy it being only 2 weeks until Christmas but this was not the case. We arrived at 7pm and only a couple of tables in the bar area were occupied and the restaurant area only had two tables occupied and one of them was ours. There wasn’t much of a festive atmosphere. Such a shame as it is a lovely place with decent food and friendly staff. ”

“ Second time I’ve stayed here and for a few days not just overnight. Always well looked after. Lovely comfortable room and good shower water pressure. Excellent breakfast with various choices. Private parking and it’s dog friendly. Great location and best pub in the area with great food. I will definitely stay there again when up visiting family. Katie & Brian are such warm welcoming hosts. Thank you ”

“ Me and my girlfriend both had a lovely meal on our first visit to the Parkwood on her birthday. As it was pie night I had the steak and ale (delicious) whilst my girlfriend had a very large plain parmo...panko breadcrumbs, nice n crunchy (I had to test it) and the chips were perfect. The staff are really friendly and attentive, the bar and dining area are clean and tidy and it's a nice, relaxing atmosphere to be in. Looking forward to my next meal there from the great menu! ”

“ This is our third year at the parkwood, and always had a great stay, but this year price was higher as included breakfast. They shouldn't of bothered it was yuck! First you had to order the day before( don't even know what I want on the morning let alone the day before) it was pre cooked and kept warm, beans had a dry skin on them! Tomatoes shrivelled up, streaky bacon hardly cooked, egg rubbery, mushrooms shrivelled up, sausages ok. No white bread for toasting. Room good as always, no problems there. ”

“ Went for a lunchtime meal, so I can't comment on the rooms. The service was excellent and the food was good, especially for the price which is very competitively priced. Atmosphere inside the pub portion is very cosy/relaxing and a lot of work seems to have gone into it. Give it a go. ”
